Stephen Jewitt, Founder & Owner of CoatinGenius... has over 30 years of coatings and senior management experience.

COATInGenius coatings expertise goes back a long way... To when powder coatings were still in their infancy; When waterborne was only used for decorating interior walls; The term VOC had not yet been coined; REACh and EHS didn't exist; ISO 9001,14001, 27001 etc. were yet to be introduced. Coatings companies were highly profitable and investing in new technology such as Powder & Electrodeposition. Some of the early pioneers lost their way and were swallowed-up by their more successful competitors, who, in-turn, expanded and prospered. As the industry swept into the 21st century, profits plummeted. Consolidation accelerated, with now just a handful of global payers dominating the scene.

Our founder, an industrial chemist, started his R&D career in Berger Paints, at the time, one of the big global decorative and industrial players based in Dagenham, UK. They were acquired by Hoechst, the chemicals conglomerate, based in Frankfurt, Germany, and eventually merged with Herberts of Wuppertal. This brought together decorative paints, powder coatings, automotive OEM, electrodeposition, vehicle refinish, can & coil, protective and anti-corrosive coatings; in-fact almost every "cutting-edge" coatings technology that existed at that time! With the passage of time and several aquisitions later, the restructured group emerged as one of the worlds leading independent coatings producers! Primary expertise includes: Powder coatings, Decorative coatings, Anti-corrosive coatings, Automotive OEM, Electrodeposition coatings, Refinish technology, Polymer development, Waterborne polymers & formulations, Intumescents and fire stopping devices, Technical service and quality issues, Litigation.

Springing forward to the 1990's and beyond, additional coatings and management expertise was gained in the marine and anti-corrosive industry with one of the leading global marine paint suppliers, based in Copenhagen. As a subsequent venture, powder coatings and can coatings experience, gained from one of the leading epoxy producers, based in Amsterdam/Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. Finally senior-level business and marketing accumen was added working for another leading global epoxy player, based in Basel, Switzerland.

In-all, a complete and well rounded experience-base, developed over 30 years, in many different fields associated with coatings, polymers, composites and adhesives (including Hot-melt).

CoatinGenius was founded in 2014 to utilize this expertise. The company uses the know-how of the founder as well as several experienced affilliates, who have specialised knowledge in diverse fields related to coatings, adhesives & composites. Bases in Switzerland (Basel) and USA (Greater Boston Area) with access to Zurich, Basel, Munich, Frankfurt and Boston (Logan) airports, international assignments anywhere in the world can be and are undertaken.
